Teachers' Guide
Effective: October 3, 2026
agarwalmath is free for classrooms. You can see your class's progress by Common Core standard, find who needs help, assign skills, and print login cards and reports, all without typing a single student's real name. This guide shows how, and what we ask of you to keep students' information safe.
1. Before you start: permission
Check your school's rules for online tools. Many schools keep a list of approved apps, or ask for a data privacy agreement first (we're happy to sign one; email us). If you make class profiles for students, you'll confirm that your school (or the students' parents) gave permission. That permission is what lets us hold the students' practice data for school use, so please be sure before you tick the box.
2. Set up your class
- Make a free grown-up account in Parents & teachers and pick I'm a teacher.
- In 🏫 Your classes, make a class with a name parents will recognize, like “Mrs. Lee's Grade 2”. You get a 6-letter join code.
- Open 📊 Class progress. That page is your class: progress, profiles and logins, assignments, and reports, with jump links at the top. 🎒 Class profiles and logins on the class's card goes straight to the profiles.
3. Two ways kids join
- Kids who already play at home: send families the join code. A parent types it in their Parents area, picks their child, and agrees to share. You then see that child's math practice from that day on, by nickname. Parents can stop sharing at any time; the child then shows as “not sharing”.
- Kids without a home profile: make class profiles (🎒 Class profiles and logins → How many? → Make profiles). Each gets a made-up nickname and an animal. Write down which nickname is which student, on paper or in your school's own systems, never in agarwalmath.
A class holds up to 40 kids. You can have several classes.
4. Logging in at school
- Login cards: 🖨️ Print login cards, cut them apart, and give each student theirs. Scanning the QR code with a tablet's camera logs them in. A card works like a key to the student's profile; it isn't the account. If one is lost, press New card and print it: the student keeps the same profile and all their progress, and only the old paper card stops working.
- Picture login: pick how long (30 minutes to 4 hours) and press 🐾 Turn on. While it's on you can change how long or turn it off. Students go to /class, type the class code, and tap their animal. When it turns off, every device logged in by picture is logged out, so shared tablets start fresh for the next class. Anyone with the code can use it while it's on, so turn it on only during class.
- Kids with a home profile log in the way they do at home (their username and PIN), or a parent can pick them on a family device.
5. What you'll see
- This week: how many kids played, answers, percent right, and minutes.
- 🙋 Needs help: a kid and a skill where they gave 5 or more answers this week and got under 60% right.
- Skills: a grid of kids × skills, or a list by skill with the Common Core code. Each skill is Strong (8+ answers, 85%+ of the last 10 right, and right at level 3 or higher), Getting there, Needs practice (under 60% recently), or Just started (fewer than 5 answers).
- Each kid: their Progress page: this week, what to practice next, skills by topic, recent rounds, and questions they missed.
- At school or at home: rounds between 8:00 and 15:30, Monday to Friday in your time zone, count as at school.
You never see a parent's email or anything from before they started sharing.
6. Assignments and reports
- 📚 Assignments: pick up to 8 skills, each with a due date. Students see them in Math Town under “From your teacher”. A skill is done after 10 answers in it, in any game. Nothing is graded or locked.
- 🖨️ Reports to send home: one page per student, with a Name line for you to write by hand, so names stay on paper.
7. Your privacy responsibilities
- Only make class profiles with your school's (or parents') permission.
- Never type students' real names, photos, or other personal details into class or group names, or anywhere else on the site.
- Keep login cards and your nickname list safe, and your account password private. Lock the Parents area (🔒 Lock and go to Math Town) before handing a device to students.
- Use what you see only to teach your students, and share it only the way your school allows.
- If a parent asks to see or delete their child's class profile, you can delete it on the class page, or ask us to help.
The full rules are in our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
8. End of the school year
Print any reports you want to keep, then delete the class (at the bottom of the class page). Families' kids just leave the class and keep their own progress; class profiles and everything saved for them are deleted. If you forget, class profiles nobody plays for 400 days are deleted automatically.
9. Help and data agreements
See Help & FAQ for teachers. For a data privacy agreement, or any question, email agarwalmath@gmail.com.
